MARCO DECCA

THE RAMBLINGS OF AN ENGINEER

1995 Jeep Cherokee XJ Rubicon Express Lift Install

I started installing a lift on my 1995 Jeep Cherokee. The suspension was old and tired and sagging significantly in the rear. I went with a Rubicon Express 3.5" lift initially, but added 1" shackles, as well as 1" coil spacers.

The front was at stock height, while the rear was at a simulated lift with jack stands.

The rear Shock's had bar pins, and I planned on installing bar pin eleiminators to remove the upper shock bolt design that Jeep put into the Cherokees.

Rear is finished!

Front is finished! I love how high it sits, but the stock wheels and tires now look tiny!

Found some Moab's off of a JK for $40 each!  I'll need spacers and adapters to make these fit!

Had to buy some beefy 33s (32.7") to mount on the new wheels. Ended up going with Cooper Discoverer ATPs.

Meanwhile, I finished updating the steering with 1 ton TREs!

Off to PepBoys to get tires mounted. Found a bunch of rust on the floor. More on this later...

HOLY MOLY! The high lift jack is 48" tall and doesn't clear the hood!

Floors are all rusty. Planning on replacing every rusty panel starting from the rear and moving towards the front! Stay tuned for updates!
